A deep bow from the waist is a recognized sign of submission to the person you are bowing to, in much the same way that a dog will lay down before it’s master. The meaning of the word “Islam” is ‘submission’. That is what you are watching in this photo – Obama, as the leader of America, submitting to a foreign, Muslim king. You will note that the King is not bowing in return, but instead maintains the superior position.
In the years following the security crackdown on Arab travelers after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks—in which 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi Arabian—tough restrictions kept most Arab students away from the U.S.
Saudi Arabian nationals recently experienced a better chances of traveling to America and getting their American visa. This is as a result of US President Barack Obama having lifted most of the restrictions of Saudis entering the country.
According to Joseph Hood, US Consul General in the city of Dhahran, the United States is currently aiming at increasing the number of United States of America visa approvals on an annual basis. This vision now extends to Saudi nationals as it recognizes them to be an important group.
To accommodate the new Saudi students, Central Washington administrators offered to provide halal food prepared in accordance with Islamic law, or set aside space on campus for a mosque. The Saudi students declined, preferring to eat at town cafes like everyone else.
Today a Saudi national is in custody for the Islamic terrorist attacks in Boston today.
What is equally disturbing is the fact that the lifting of restrictions is taking place amidst a series of incidents in which Saudis were implicated in criminal and security offenses. In February 2011, a Saudi student was arrested on charges of plotting to bomb the home of former President George Bush in Texas. Earlier this month, a sergeant in the Royal Saudi Air Force was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy in Las Vegas.
The Obama administration also through the Department of Homeland Security program intends to give “trusted traveler” status to ‘low-risk airline passengers’ to Muslim travelers from Saudi Arabia. Obama is bending over backwards in accommodating the country that produced 15 of the 19 hijackers behind the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks as well as the attack in Boston today.
