A school-wide racist questionnaire at Western Washington University (WWU) asked the community “How do we make sure that in future years ‘we are not as white as we are today?’”
The racist question, released through the communications and marketing department’s daily newsletter Western Today, comes on the heels of admonishments given in multiple convocation addresses by WWU President Bruce Shepard for the university’s “failure” to be less white.
“Every year, from this stage and at this time, you have heard me say that, if in decades ahead, we are as white as we are today, we will have failed as university,” Shepard said in the 2012 speech.
And in a recent blog post on WWU’s website, Shepard echoes these sentiments, saying those who do not agree “have not thought through the implications of what is ahead for us or, more perniciously, assume we can continue unchanged.”
“In the decades ahead, should we be as white as we are today, we will be relentlessly driven toward mediocrity; or, become a sad shadow of our current self,” he wrote. How can the President of a University possibly believe this is an appropriate thing to say?

The six question survey, inspired by Shepard, is meant to combat a recent decline in Washington high school graduation numbers, the pool from which the university draws 90 percent of its students.
The university has already replaced standard performance reviews with sensitivity training and hosts workshops to better serve undocumented students. WWU also provides literature on how to better “recruit and retain faculty and staff of color.”
Campus Reform talked briefly to a spokesperson from the university who was hesitant to offer clarification to the controversial questionnaire.
Did WWU president David Shepard consider that maybe they have more whites than other races is because those minorities don’t find the university appealing as a student or faculty?!
How come no one ever talks about the racism toward whites? Charges of discrimination/ racism are always about blacks, Asians and Hispanics but what about whites? White people are constantly targeted and made out to be the boogeyman. There is no discrimination in the work place or at universities let alone racism. FYI the US has the first bi-racial president (twice elected), a black attorney general and other high ranking positions.
First Mr Shepard should resign immediately so a person of color can take his place. As Liberal agenda is allowed to progress it is becoming clearer that being white may not bode too well in the future.
The hypocrisy is almost enough to make the head spin, as race should have nothing to do with the success of a University. Instead of analyzing the color of skin, perhaps the school should take a peek into how they can do better for the students they actually do educate.
Seeing how if a statement like this had been made saying that a college was too “black,” could you imagine the outrage? So, because we compose the entitled elite white race, we are allowed to be subjected to racism on principle – it’s good to have that cleared up.
In the name of “tolerance”, it appears that the left wish for us measly whites to just have to deal with shameless racism and discrimination. “Diversity” means less white people, “Diversity” indoctrination begins in kindergarten and ends when there are no more White people left on the planet.
Martin Luther King would be embarrassed by the way things have turned. The media, the education system, the Obama administration all judging people by the color of their skin, not the content of their character. The exact opposite of his dream for America.
