Following a teary speech on gun control this past Tuesday, Obama followed it up with a townhall on Thursday to take questions and defend his position on gun control. The event was held at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
The first question Obama received was from none other than Tyra Kyle, the widow of American Sniper Chris Kyle.
She quite kindly pointed out that criminals don’t obey gun control laws, and that murder rates are now at all time lows while the amount of guns in this country are at all time highs. Obama’s answer may surprise you.
Just a bit of irony: also worth noting is that the University he spoke at is named after Founding Father George Mason, who once stated on gun control that: “…to disarm the people ? that was the best and most effectual way to enslave them.”
