Vice President Joe Biden revealed that President Barack Obama might use an executive order to deal with gun control.
“The president is going to act,” said Biden, giving some comments to the press before a meeting with victims of gun violence. “There are executives orders, there’s executive action that can be taken. We haven’t decided what that is yet. But we’re compiling it all with the help of the attorney general and the rest of the cabinet members as well as legislative action that we believe is required.”
The President may choose to bypass congress and make a law regarding a constitutional right, no matter what side of the fence one me be on politically, this should be very bothersome at all Americans.
Obama could try an end run by an executive order, but that would be viewed as exceeding his authority by most Americans. Executive order 9066 by Roosevelt resulted in the internment camps for German and Japanese citizens during WWII.
In 2009, Obama revoked one of his executive orders to keep certain papers of previous presidents (Clinton, I’m guessing) from the public. If Obama thinks he can bypass congress and that an executive order regarding firearms will be viewed as legal, Obama’s got a hard road ahead of him.
If an executive order is issued by the President, watch out folks its going to get ugly. Executive actions” against the Bill of Rights! Wake up people, we are about to enter the really scary zone here. Obama’s has not even started his second term and he’s beginning to sound like a dictator.
