Success Strategy for Dealing with Hostage Takers

By Peter Paton

The highly successful and professional job done by the Algerian Forces in dealing with the Algerian Hostage Crisis, should be the future template for all Western democracies to emulate, in the continuing War on Islamic Terrorism.

The Republic of France should be proud of its Mali Mission, honor its fallen soldiers and their sacrifices for France, and take all the Plus Factors from the Mission. That is they killed many of the terrorists and destroyed their bases. The Mission was right, and nothing is in vain when it is deemed the right thing to do, as the hard lessons will be learned for the next time.

Future ” Hostage ” Missions, acting on impeccable intelligence, should be executed in a wipe them all  out basis in my strategic opinion. This strategy would erase all the terrorists and their weapons out at a stroke, and send a clear deterrent to all future would be hostage takers, that they will be destroyed completely.

Unfortunately the hostage or hostages would likely die in the process too, however their death would not have been in vain, as the hostage takers would also die in the process, and no rescue team’s lives would be lost in the action. Ransoms should not be paid in any circumstances, as it would only lead to future hostage taking by bloodthirsty mercenaries.

The Motto should be ” Next Time ” we will eliminate the whole enemy camp from the face of the earth by Air Power or Drones, using tactical battlefield weapons. This strategy should be adopted by all Western Nations, as it would solve the ” Moral Dilemma ” at a stroke, and put in place a universal means of dealing with this terrorist device.
