The driver of the Palestinian Authority’s prime minister is wanted by Israel after an accident in which he crossed a dividing line and crashed into a car from the Judean community of Tekoa. The family inside the car included two parents, both of whom were seriously injured and four children, who were slightly injured.
The matter was discussed in a parliamentary exchange Thursday, between Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovich, and MK David Rotem, both of Yisrael Beytenu. MK Rotem had filed a parliamentary query in which he asked what was being done regarding the driver, and whether he would be questioned and charged.
“I am acting to increase police enforcement and the visibility of police cars on the roads of Judea and Samaria, and I have spoken about this with the commander of the Judea and Samaria District Police,” said Aharonovich in his reply.
He said that he was aware of the problem of numerous traffic violations in the region.
“We received the personal details of the driver,” Aharonovich said. “The Israel Police has relayed a request to the Palestinian Authority to summon him for questioning, and after this is done, the file will be transferred to the Military Prosecution, which will decide whether to prosecute him.”
