Abbas’s Fatah Celebrates Murders of Jews on Facebook

Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) reported Tuesday on an official Fatah Facebook page that is celebrating murderous terror attacks on Jews, in a list encompassing decades.

Fatah is headed by Mahmoud Abbas, who heads the Palestinian Authority with which Israel is currently conducting “peace talks.”

Among the celebrated attacks was the most lethal terror attack in Israel’s history: a 1978 bus hijacking in which 37 civilians were murdered.

The page’s administrator also praised the infamous “Munich Massacre” during the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, in which 11 Israeli athletes were murdered.

Fatah’s Facebook page also celebrates a series of terror “firsts” achieved by Fatah: the first suicide bombing against Israel, the first suicide bombing by a woman against Israel, the first missile attack from Gaza against Israel, and others. The page glorifies an attack that it claims killed the “the most” Israelis in a single terror attack: a double suicide bombing in Tel Aviv’s central bus station in 2003. Fatah boasted it “killed more than 30 and wounded more than 200” in that one attack.

Next to these texts is a map of “Palestine” that erases and replaces all of Israel.

This terror glorification was reposted by the Fatah page administrator soon after the Israeli – Palestinian peace talks were announced.

It is the latest in a string of anti-Israel incitement and glorification of terrorism by official PA organs, as the international community pushes for talks between Israel and the PA.

Two weeks ago, the same Fatah page celebrated arch-terrorist Abdallah Bargouti for his role in murdering 61 Israeli civilians. Only a few days later, The PA’s official TV station re-broadcast an antisemitic music video which encouraged children to take up arms against Israel.

Israeli commentators have long pointed out that whilst the Israeli government is subject to widespread pressure to make concessions to encourage “good will,” no such requirements are made of the Palestinian Authority.

Last month, following a wave of pressure against Israel, ADL National Director Abraham H. Foxman claimed that much of the international community was giving the PA a “free pass,” and called on the EU in particular to end its “long-standing habit of not holding the Palestinian Authority responsible for its actions and inactions that are unequivocally obstacles to peace.”
