Jim DeMint on “Hannity”: Time to Make Noise to Defund Obamacare

Appearing on Fox News’ “Hannity” tonight, Heritage Foundation President Jim DeMint said the best way to stop Obamacare is to cut off its funding. He urged Americans to make noise about the President’s health-care law during the August congressional recess.

With less than two months before many people experience firsthand the government takeover of America’s health-care system, the clock is ticking to stop Obamacare.

We know that Obamacare is unfair. It is unaffordable, unworkable, and very unpopular. And this may be our last, best chance to stop it.

This month, as lawmakers break for recess, Heritage Action will host nine town-hall meetings across the United States. DeMint will be joined by Heritage Action CEO Mike Needham and Rafael Cruz, father of Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX). Senator Cruz will speak at the Dallas event.

The more pressure that the American people put on Congress, the more likely some of the Democrats will break with President Obama and [Senate Majority Leader] Harry Reid, and vote with the American people. We’ve got to make it feel like in Washington, Americans want this thing stopped. We have to make a little noise in August to make sure folks in Congress are listening.

Heritage Action’s town-hall meetings will be open to the public. Here’s a list of the nine cities (click on each link for more information):

It was a few years ago when an outpouring of tea-party activists turned out in droves for town-hall meetings. DeMint urged Americans to do the same now.

It is time for Americans to get engaged again. We saw what they did in 2010 when they stood up and spoke out. That’s what we’re trying to do — reunite a lot of Americans around this effort to stop Obamacare.
