“World Less Violent Than Ever,” Mr. President?

By John W. Lillpop

Barack Obama’s lasting legacy will surely be his legendary talent for story-telling. Or to be more precise, Obama is a master when it comes to using the Bully Pulpit of the Presidency to issue bold-faced lies and distortions, not coincidentally all of which exaggerate his achievements, while ignoring, or understating, the destructive impact of Obama policies on America’s military, economic, social, and political institutions.

Take, for instance, Obama’s outrageous attempt to sugar-coat world conditions so as to make it appear as though Utopia has been achieved, presumably attributable to his tenure in the White House.

As reported at the reference, Barack Obama actually said the following:

“The world is less violent than it has ever been. It is healthier than it has ever been. It is more tolerant than it has ever been. It is better fed then it’s ever been. It is more educated than it’s ever been.”

Rose-colored glasses and insidious self-delusions allow Obama to speak such nonsense, with impunity, mostly due to a brain-dead media which remains enamored and adoring of The One, despite six horrendous years of failure.

However, occasionally light will break through the fog of media-created fantasy and enlightenment will ensue, if ever so briefly.

Such is the case with recent remarks made by Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel who warned that Obama-sponsored victory laps should be taken with a grain, or more, of salt.

As reported at Reference 2:

The sophistication, wealth and military might of Islamic State militants represent a major threat to the United States that may surpass that once posed by al Qaeda, U.S. military leaders said on Thursday.
“They are an imminent threat to every interest we have, whether it’s in Iraq or anywhere else,” Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel told reporters at the Pentagon.
Hagel’s assessment of Islamic State, which gained strength during Syria’s civil war and swept into northern Iraq earlier this summer, sounded a note of alarm several days after the group posted a video on social media showing one of its fighters beheading an American hostage kidnapped in Syria.
Asked if the hard line Sunni Muslim organization posed a threat to the United States comparable to that of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Hagel said it was “as sophisticated and well-funded as any group we have seen.”
“They are beyond just a terrorist group. They marry ideology, a sophistication of … military prowess. They are tremendously well-funded. This is beyond anything we’ve seen.”

“Beyond anything we have seen,” Mr. Hagel?

Combined with events in the Ukraine-Russian conflict, the new cold war between Russia and America, the Syrian civil war, the ongoing Israel-Palestine wars, the barbaric moves of ISIS, invasions at the US-Mexico borders, and flare ups in cities like Ferguson, Missouri, one wonders exactly how Barack Obama develops his world views?

Can America survive two more years of such infantile thinking?
