In a prescient article, Daniel Greenfield states that “on September 11, thousands were murdered in one day. The Democrats don’t like calling what happened on that day an act of war. Americans however know it’s a war and are determined to win.”
The Democratic equivocation about the meaning of war not only fails to acknowledge that we are in a war, but fails also to acknowledge the scope of that war. If 9/11 ushered in WWIII, then our perspective about individual conflicts – e.g., the implications for winning the war against ISIS in Iraq – are far-reaching. We are not in a mere skirmish. Rather, it is a war between civilizations, not nation-states per se, as were World Wars I and II. Our hesitancy to mobilize for a war of this scale could be considered alarming. Our government is in denial of or fleeing not only from a simple acknowledgement of our war condition, but also from the scale of the war.
The war against ISIS is actually part of a hydra-headed conflict we have with Hamas, Hezb’allah, al-Qaeda, Al-Shabab, Boko Haram, the insurgents of Mali, the Muslim Brotherhood, the militant mullahs and imams of Iran, the Syrian rebels and Syrian government of Assad, Fatah, and Islamic Jihad. Even our so-called friends or allies in the African/Middle Eastern regions such as Turkey (a NATO member-state?), Qatar, and even Saudi Arabia are nightmarishly unfriendly. All are financing sharia propaganda and murderous rampages in various countries.
On Meet the Press, Sunday, September 20, Samantha Power, our ambassador to the UN, noted that there would be training for the “moderate” FSA (Free Syrian Army) insurgents who have been fighting both Assad and ISIS in Syria. The training would be supported by Saudi Arabia. Thus, since Saudi Arabia will be supporting our effort against ISIS, they also receive the default label “moderate.” Suddenly forgotten is the Saudi support of Wahhabist doctrines promoting Islamic supremacy. Suddenly forgotten is that 16 of the 19 9/11 hijackers and mass murderers were Saudi citizens. Pakistan, another “friend,” is also providing safe haven for many enemies, especially Taliban forces from Afghanistan. In essence, Islam has by its actions declared war on the West.
Further, an aggressive and deceitful fifth column is working against the West from within while the bloodthirsty elements rampage in country after country, either as dissident rebel groups or as militant governments (e.g., Iran), to hasten the arrival of the Twelfth Imam. Iranian leadership even believes that Jesus will be coming to install Allah-worship throughout the world.
Meanwhile, we are downsizing our military. We profess illusory red lines. We equivocate and diddle about Libya and Iraq. We negotiate with the prevaricators as though an ironclad deal could actually be reached. We return terrorists to their home countries. We apologize for our past misconduct (sic) to our enemies. We watch our citizens murdered in cold blood on TV, and then address the guilty party as though it were a misbehaving junior high school student.
Thus, if we are in a war of a worldwide scope, then one may conclude we are in full retreat.
