Ben Carson Reveals the Real Reasons He Endorsed Donald Trump

In an interview on Newsmax TV Monday, Ben Carson revealed that he would serve in the Donald Trump administration at least “in an advisory capacity.”

Carson opted not to disclose any more information regarding the capacity he may serve in, calling the situation very “fluid.” It is worth noting that since these comments have come to light many are suggesting that Trump has engaged in illegal campaign activity by offering Carson a position in return for his endorsement.

In the interview with Steve Malzberg, Carson also provided some more insight into his decision to support Trump, alluding to the fact that it was largely pragmatic.

He admitted:

“I didn’t see a path for [John] Kasich, who I like, or for [Marco] Rubio, who I like. As far as [Ted] Cruz is concerned, I don’t think he’s gonna be able to draw independents and Democrats unless has some kind of miraculous change… Is there another scenario that I would have preferred? Yes. But that scenario isn’t available.”

Evidently, being a “big picture” guy, Carson decided that Trump had the only viable path forward and ultimately was the lesser of three evils. The other two being a contested convention and Hillary Clinton.

Besides, Carson reasons:

“Even if Donald Trump turns out not to be such a great president… we’re only looking at four years.”

What an endorsement.
