Yes, POTUS can limit the admission of foreigners

It isn’t easy to avoid listening to the wild and crazed claims in the liberal media that President Trump acted illegally when he put a temporary pause on aliens entering the country from nations President Obama designated as terrorism hotspots.

Facts, as always, are optional with the Left. President Trump acted within the scope of his authority in issuing Executive Order 13769, “Protecting The Nation From Foreign Terrorist Entry Into The United States.”

The president was also correct to fire the acting attorney general, Sally Yates, whom he said “betrayed the Department of Justice” by ordering DoJ staff not to defend the president’s lawful order. No president can allow officials and staff to undermine lawful orders.

The truth is existing law already gives the president full authority to limit in any way the entry of aliens that could be “detrimental to the interests of the United States.” It is the president’s judgment call which aliens are impacted.

The media and activists didn’t read or understand the law, but you can:

8 U.S. Code § 1182 – Inadmissible aliens

“(f) Suspension of entry or imposition of restrictions by President.—Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.”

Case Closed

But the Left doesn’t care because here the facts don’t fit its narrative.

A few examples follow.

Take actress Rachel Dratch’s tweet which mixed hate with tears:

“Silicon Valley” star and comedian Kumail Nanjiani chimed in with mini-screeds he apparently later deleted.

“Hey @mike_pence @SenJohnMcCain @SpeakerRyan, you should be ashamed of yourselves. On your deathbeds you will know you made the world worse.”

And, “Hey @realDonaldTrump @POTUS, the difference between you & Hitler is that he had more charisma, better hair & he wasn’t a puppet.”

This must be what left-wingers mean by their slogan “love trumps hate.”

CNN’s alleged Republican contributor Ana Navarro demonstrated her journalistic impartiality on “State Of The Union,” with an on-air rant:

“I’ll tell you who thinks it’s a Muslim ban, Muslims think it’s a Muslim ban. Those who want a Muslim ban like little boy [Michael] Flynn and David Duke, the former KKK leader, are celebrating it as a Muslim ban. And those of us who don’t want a Muslim ban see it as such.”

President Trump signed the executive order because unlike his predecessor he takes his job seriously.

Upon signing the document he said, “We only want to admit those into our country who will support our country and love deeply our people.”
