In a tweet on his Twitter page this afternoon, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee wrote that he is “[p]roud” of President Donald Trump for fully recognizing Israel’s Sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

“Once again[,] @realDonaldTrump has made the right decision in regards to our ally @Israel,” tweeted Gov. Mike Huckabee, “and I know the @IsraeliPM is glad to have someone in @WhiteHouse who knows who are real friends are[sic]. Proud of @POTUS.”

Gov. Mike Huckabee’s 2:34 PM tweet came in response to a 12:50 PM tweet by President Donald J. Trump, in which the president recognized Israel’s sovereignty over the contested Golan Heights region.

In the tweet, President Trump touted regional stability and the “critical strategic and security importance” that the region provides for the nation of Israel. Trump’s tweet can be read in its entirety below:

“After 52 years it is time for the United States to fully recognize Israel’s Sovereignty over the Golan Heights, which is of critical strategic and security importance to the State of Israel and Regional Stability!”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tweeted his thanks in response to President Trump’s acknowledgement, “President Trump made history and recognized Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights. Thank you, President Trump. Thank you, America!”

Gov. Huckabee, concurring with the Israeli PM, tweeted in response, “Thanks @realDonaldTrump indeed! The Golan should never be disputed as to its being part of @Israel.”

Back in December 2017, President Donald Trump also recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and instructed the U.S. State Department to move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, saying, “When I came into office, I promised to look at the world’s challenges with open eyes and very fresh thinking. We cannot solve our problems by making the same failed assumptions and repeating the same failed strategies of the past. All challenges demand new approaches,” reported CNSNews.com.
