Mike Huckabee: It Was Never About Visiting Israel for Tlaib; It ‘Was About Making a Scene’

Fox News contributor and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, in a tweet on his Twitter page, blasted Rep. Rashida Tlaib, saying it was never about visiting Israel for Tlaib; it “was about making a scene.”

Huckabee’s tweet comments came after Congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib were banned from Israel by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. According to Arutz Sheva israelnationalnews.com, “Israel will not permit two controversial Democratic lawmakers who have expressed support for the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement visit the country on a planned trip next week.” Following Israel’s announcement, Tlaib “sent a request to Israel’s Ministry of Interior to visit her ‘Palestinian’ grandmother on humanitarian grounds on Thursday night.”

On Friday, the Israeli Interior Minister Aryeh Deri (Shas) “approved US Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib’s request to visit Israel in order to see her elderly grandmother.” As reported by Arutz Sheva, “Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan (Likud) had recommended approving Tlaib’s personal request, ‘in light of her commitment to respect Israeli law and not to promote boycotts against us.’”

Rep. Tlaib, however, “will not be visiting Israel, even though Israel had agreed to let her enter on a humanitarian visit to see her elderly grandmother after she had submitted a letter to Israeli Interior Minister Aryeh Deri saying she would ‘not promote boycotts against Israel’ during her time in the country,” reports CNSNews.com. “Tlaib announced her decision in a written statement.

“‘My family and I have cried together throughout this ordeal; they’ve promised to keep my grandmother alive until I can one day reunite with her,’ Tlaib said.”

Rep. Tlaib also detailed her decision in a couple of tweets on her Twitter page on Friday, in one tweet even suggesting that to go to Israel “would kill a piece of me,” and further stating that visiting her grandmother “under these oppressive conditions stands against everything I believe in—fighting against racism, oppression injustice,” reported CNSNews.com.
