After being barred from Google Playstore in the wake of the January 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, the conservative social media app Parler has finally made its way back to the app store, Reuters reported.

Parler is a popular alternative American microblogging and social networking service popular with conservatives and Trump supporters. The app was launched on September 2018 and is based in Nashville, Tennessee.

“Parler is the solution to problems that have surfaced in recent years due to changes in Big Tech policy influenced by various special-interest groups,” according to its website. “Parler is built upon a foundation of respect for privacy and personal data, free speech, free markets, and ethical, transparent corporate policy.”

“While away from Google Play, we have worked diligently to build a more feature-rich and dynamic user experience. Now is a perfect time to join Parler and rediscover the non-partisan platform where we enable people to speak freely!” said Sam Lipoff, Chief Technology Officer at Parler.

According to Google, the Parler app will be ready for download on Friday after significant changes were made to bring it into compliance with the Play Store’s policies.

“As we’ve long stated, apps are able to appear on Google Play provided they comply with Play’s developer policies,” a Google spokesperson told Axios.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that Amazon had kicked Parler off their web hosting service last January 2021, meaning the platform will be offline until they find a new host.

Parler has faced what can only be described as a mass coordinated cyber attack by Big Tech, first being banned by Apple and Google within a 24-hour time period.

In an email obtained by BuzzFeed News, an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Trust and Safety team told Parler Chief Policy Officer Amy Peikoff that “the calls for violence propagating across Parler violated its terms of service and that Amazon is unconvinced that the service’s plan to use volunteers to moderate such things will be effective.”

After a month, Parler resumed its operations under new leadership and with new computer servers.

Parler was also back in the Apple app store last April 2021 after a coordinated attack from the media and big tech to shut the free-speech-oriented platform down. Now, the Google has reinstated the social media app on their app store.

It can be recalled that former President Donald Trump’s social media platform Truth Social has been barred from the Google Play store over alleged “content moderation” issues.

Truth Social CEO Devin Nunes has said that the Android version of the app is ready to go and just waiting on approval from the Play Store.

However, according to a report from The Hill, a Google spokesperson said in a statement on Tuesday that the platform lacks the “effective” content moderation needed to meet Google Play’s terms of service.

“On August 19 we notified Truth Social of several violations of standard policies in their current app submission and reiterated that having effective systems for moderating user-generated content is a condition of our terms of service for any app to go live on Google Play,” the spokesperson said.

The report says that Google is specifically “concerned” about “policies prohibiting content with physical threats and incitements to violence.”

The Google spokesperson said that they contacted Truth Social and that they are addressing the issues to meet the big tech giant’s conditions for getting in the store.
