Ocasio-Cortez, often referred to as AOC, spoke to the New York civil rights group National Action Network at its convention on Friday using a Ebonics like accent to the black audience, Ocasio-Cortez is Puerto Rican.
Departing from her usual accent, she started using Ebonics to a predominantly black audience that there’s nothing wrong with serving in low skill jobs. She stated:
“I’z is proud to be a bartender, ain’t nothin wrong with that, uhhh hummm..”
“Therze nothin wrong with working retaiz , folding them there clothes for other people to buy. Therz nothin wrong with preparing the food that your neighbors will eat. Therez is nothing wrong with driving them there buses that is a taken yourz bros and hoes to work.”
To change your accent to sound like black people is sick and insulting on so many levels and racist. The implication being that black people are not smart enough to comprehend a topic unless you speak to them with an accent is sick and distorted. Shame on you. @RealCandaceO

The critics called her a racist and used cultural appropriation while accusing others of doing the same. It’s all in the ear of the listener, apparently.
This embarrassment of a woman @AOC really got up there and did that raggedy accent in front of all those black people.
PSA: Not all black people are improper. Not all black people fold clothes and drive buses.— Jorden ???? (@_realjgoodwin) April 5, 2019
She trying too hard. The accent is so obvious????
"Ain't nun wrong with dat"
Every African-American does not talk in this way. I guess you're trying to "win the black vote."
This ain't it, @AOC https://t.co/98AVVRPjXA
