Former President Donald Trump has endorsed GOP Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky for reelection in 2022.
“Rand Paul has done a fantastic job for our Country, and for the incredible people of Kentucky,” former President Trump said in a statement on Thursday — affirming his support for the longtime senator, well ahead of next year’s midterm elections.

The former Republican chief executive noted that Paul, an American politician and physician serving as the junior US Senator from Kentucky since 2011, will continue to push for the “America First” agenda and will stand up to far-left Democrats in the US Congress.

“He fights against the Swamp in Washington, the Radical Left Liberals, and especially the destructive RINOS, of which there are far too many, in Congress,” Trump said.
“Rand will continue to stand up for our great AMERICA FIRST policies because he believes in stopping wasteful spending, defending our Second Amendment rights, and taking care of our Military and our Vets.”
Although Paul has earlier hinted of his desire to seek reelection, he has yet to make a formal announcement of his political aspirations in 2022.

Meanwhile, former President Trump and Senator Paul were former political rivals when they fought for the Republican Party’s presidential nomination in 2016.
Paul eventually became one of Trump’s most ardent allies in Congress — particularly on pushing back against the radical left.
To the GOP, he is a staunch conservative willing to fight his party when it comes to the military. Most recently, he drew headlines for publicly feuding with White House health adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci over face coverings. He also echoed former President Trump’s call to boycott Major League Baseball (MLB) after moving its All-Star Game out of Georgia in protest of the state’s new election law.
During the Democrat-led impeachment process, Paul has consistently backed former President Trump — calling it a “sham” and “unconstitutional.” He also earlier warned his Republican colleagues against voting to convict Trump saying doing so would “destroy the GOP.”
He also slammed Democrats for seeking to impeach Trump even while he already stepped down from office and called their efforts a “political retribution” against the former Republican president.

At the 2020 Republican National Convention, Paul told his supporters that he was “proud” of the accomplishments of the Trump administration — particularly in withdrawing US troops from various war zone deployments.
In his statement, President Trump said: “I am proud to be working with Rand in our battle to Make America Great Again.”
“He has my Complete and Total Endorsement for another term in the U.S. Senate. The Commonwealth of Kentucky has a true champion in Rand Paul.”

The former President’s endorsement of Senator Paul came after he also urged Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin to run for reelection on the same day.

Some of his early endorsements went to senators Jerry Moran (Kansas), John Boozman (Arkansas), John Kennedy (Louisiana), and Mike Crapo (Idaho).
The former president has also endorsed his former press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders for Arkansas governor, Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin for attorney general as well as Julia Letlow — the widow of Rep-elect Luke Letlow, as well as South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster.
