Canada’s Toronto District School Board has cancelled a visit from ISIS survivor, Yazidi activist, and Nobel Peace Prize winner Nadia Murad — citing potential “Islamophobia.”

Murad was scheduled to meet students and discuss her book “The Last Girl: My Story Of Captivity, and My Fight Against the Islamic State,” in February. The event is part of the “A Room Of Your Own Book Club” for teenage girls.

“Ms Murad’s frightening story details her family being executed and how she was snatched from her home and sold into sexual slavery. She was raped, tortured and exchanged among militants in northern Iraq before escaping,” the Telegraph report explains. “She is a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, UN Goodwill Ambassador, and a leading advocate for survivors of genocide and sexual violence.”

Toronto District School Board, Helen Fisher, has now announced that students may not attend the event because it could be “offensive” to Muslim students, Biz Pac Review reports.

The founder of the book club, Tanya Lee, announced, “The book club event for A Room Of Your Own Book Club with Nadia Murad will go ahead across Canada in February. The TDSB has not committed to letting their students attend. This is unfortunate for all involved. A great loss to the students, community, and educators at the TDSB.”
